The start menu is not the only issue. 1. They are trying very hard to force an MS account and take away local accounts. 2. They will soon prevent us from downloading 3rd party apps in the name of security. 3. Taking away certain applications they deem not worthy and so much more. In short W11 is Not very friendly nor customizable. When B. Gates first created the GUI interface it was meant to be practical, user friendly, simple and customizable for the consumer. What happened?

Great video. People don't realise that if you delete pitchers & documents from OneDrive, it will also delete them from your computer. You have to go into OneDrive setting first & turn this off, so it only deletes them from OneDrive. Not sure if OneDrive is still configured this way at first startup. But if it is this is just wrong.

That is why Windows 11 is selling so well & everybody wants it.

I updated to Windows 11 about a week now, but the Start menu is quickly gets Boring 😑

The big advantage of new Outlook is that it does word-wrap, which old Outlook don't. Certain emails on old Outlook requires scrolling back and forth which is ridiculous and lowering font size would be unreadable. New Outlook disadvantage doesn't pop up the reminders, You need to open calendar on drop-down on left screen and check calendar appointments and task jobs.

How many Laptops/Desktops have an option with something other than Windows pre installed or available without an operating system? Bet I can count on one hand.

Ever since I got a candy crush ad on my homescreen, I've been using linux daily, only booting up windows when I need to play games with my friends, or do creative stuff that calls for it. Plus, linux is actually a smoother experience for me than windows, which if I had been told 5 years ago, I'd have pointed and laughed.

True > Many Windows users are silent, but it doesn't mean that they are all happy. Unfortunately, most of those folks have never installed an OS. Sadly, their idea of upgrading to a new version of Windows is by getting a new computer. Your computer is "your" computer folks. You have to demand of yourself that you at very least become computer literate and do a bit of research to look for potential alternatives. True > Trust just isn't there with respect to MSFT and with moves like RECALL, that isn't going to help them earn that trust. If you care about privacy (i.e. no telemetry on what you have installed and your general computer usage), then Windows isn't what you want to use. Heck! Even Apple collects some usage data as well. You need to look to using an open source solution if privacy is more important to you.

The "New Outlook" is terrible with hundreds of missing features and options. It's a dumbed-down version of Outlook that is still beta quality. The original "classic" Outlook for Windows will be supported for many years to come. In addition, switching to the "New Outlook" can cause serious problems if you use any of the missing features or options. For example, you couldn't even save attachments to your desktop.🤣

Microsofts really not gonna like when a bunch of us move to Linux.

There should be an easy way to remove one drive, backup (I have a backup utility), chatgpt, AI, system reporting to Microsoft,,, Stop removing useful utilities.. like when they deleted the native pdf capability in edge. Their comment.. use adobe. (Too much bloat)…. Microsoft…. Bringing out rounder icons is not a big feature. Let us have our data left on our system. Let us easily use local accounts Windows has lost its way.. it is not an apple pc…. Windows is beginning to sell Linux with libreoffice and thunderbird… Pity

The thing is Microsoft does not care about the users they just do as they like always have done and it is getting worse.

What does the command consist of when u hit copy fix? Is there a VirusTotal link?

I see a lot of people that go for computer instruction that have a computer at home and don't know how to really use it (I teach computer classes for the public). Are these people happy? They don't know if they should be happy with Windows or not because they don't understand it or the computer in general, and don't understand what Windows is doing. A lot of people are not silent because they are happy (although to be fair a lot of other people are happy), they are silent because they don't know what to say about the topic due to ignorance of the subject.

5 GHz is harder to communicate 6GHz, a thousand megacycles higher in frequency will be more susceptible to penetrating walls etc. it sounds great throughput wise but count up all the devices in a home and replacement cost WiFi 6 still works fine for myself.

One drive can be a problem if user doesn’t understand where files go. Just ms trying to duplicate iCloud IMO. No sense in faster CPU SSD etc if the operating system becomes so bloated it’s the bottleneck.

If you check your File Explorer you will find the "Pinned" icons under "Home" are all related to One Drive. So when you add pictures, music, documents or videos, they all go directly to One Drive. Soon, if you did not choose to upgrade One drive, you will run out of space. I always remove One Drive and the Pinned icons, then open my User Account under C: drive to pin those files to the File Explorer. This has been going on for a long time.

At the beginning they ask if u want to backup to onedrive, everytime i select that i dont want it, It came with onedrive backing up every single time. ive installed more then 10 clean installations btw so my experience is its not a single time bug or something they just abusing persons that does not have so much experience so they can slip in theire privacy

I don't know Most people start using Windows because it's there by default, it's on every pc when you buy them, and then people get used to it and that's how it goes "You could remove windows", most people don't care about that or don't know they can do that, they do with the OS their pc is on until they stop using it So, yeah, Windows have competition if you look at the people that are interested in computers and do look into the different choices they can use. But if you just look at casual users, people that just don't really care (and can't blame them) and just buy their thing, and it works so it's all good, no, Windows have close to no competition. But, idk, it's how it is and it's fine I suppose, I enjoy computers the way I do and even if it's not how the majority do enjoy using their computers, it's alright, don't need to look that deep into it when most people use PCs as mail and internet browsing machines

With Windows trying to force users onto Windows 11 OS, (along the fact of creating strict but unclear spec requirements for 11 & creating a H U G E e-waste problem), & some people are complaining that the design of 11 may have been rushed, buggy & not properly tested, along with the fact that others don't like the new navigational interface access of the settings menu & most Windows 11 upgraded users are going back to 10: ALL of this is creating the death of Windows OS by everyone switching to Lenux & windows may be on the way out because they don't care about the end user & the quality of their service & the faulty release of updates that are not checked b4 they are released ! (Microsoft is getting themselves set to end themselves in the way they are currently doing business) Plus: using a "Microsoft Account" is not safe & should not be forced upon the Windows OS user. "DEAR: MICROSOFT: SHAPE UP / WAKE UP / RELEASE UPDATES PROPERLY & LISTEN TO THE CUSTOMER, OR WE WILL LEAVE U BEHIND & U ARE GOING TO DIE !"

microsoft may not have a "real monopoly" but the lack of laptop with linuux on local physical store make microsoft too much power that they use to make window more corpo friendly aka terrible for thr customer ... this is my personal opinion on the situation and i may be kinda biaised as my laptop cant run linux natively and i am very tired of microsoft .... but i cant make the swtich

It's been almost 3 years. Microsoft has only minor changes to the start menu. The Windows 11 Start Menu is less customizable than the Windows 10 Start Menu. They did add the ability to group apps in a folder. For 24H2, they are adding jump lists to the start menu

If they spent half as much effort on the GUI as they seem to on pushing annoying ads, we'd have a better product.

Actually Microsoft is monopolistic as only Intel AMD is a real competition in that the operating system has to talk with hardware. Hardware isn’t built to only work with BSD or Linux only, but it is certainly built to interface with Windows and sometimes Linux. External devices almost always support some version of Windows but may become obsolete and usually support some version of Mac but rarer Linux. So yes Microsoft is a monopoly as much as Apple is just in different ways.

I still have a Nokia Lumia Windows 8 phone and would have used it still but for the disappearance of G3-networks. I now use it for some secret offline files 😎 When there will be a Windows11 phone I’m definitely interested 🤓

With respect why don't you look back on your own video from yesterday mate and therein lies the main complaint. I have moved to Zorin and can do what I want with the available apps, and it's not that difficult. including file transfer etc.

Honestly, I was interested in windows phone at the time. If they kept it alive, I likely would have gotten one once it was time to exchange my Android. It made all the sense in the world to have a Windows based phone when I was going to be running a PC with a Windows based OS.

I would definitely try one out.

Why can't we sort the 'Start Menu' icons alphabetically? I was inclined to believe that the lack of a sort feature in the beginning was just a new program oversight...
